A quarter to success:
I learnt the theory of probability quite early in life...
That is i can say as early as 7th class.,wherein i was taking national talent tests.
Answering 1 out of 4;
P(question is answered correct)=1/(no.of choices per question).
Eliminating the wrong choices....increses you hit rate.
So if no. of choices are atropied to "1" then the probability that question is answered correct is "1".
Well at that fledgeling age i didnot know that as probability but only as getting right or wrong.
The concept of negative marking also adds it's own dimension to this.I will not take this up at this moment.
This 1/4 is a unique number in life.
When a person finishes high school he will have to fill up a gamut of 1/4 or 1/5 OMR sheets.
HE faces a gamut of exams in
(IIT JEE was a stand out exam that never had this style of questioning...But i suppose even JEE is thinking otherwise!!)
Then during engineering a person gets some respite from this type of questioning!!
come the pen ultimate year of engineering.....
We get back to "ABCD" and "1234"...!!
<--> Back to square 1
Gate,CAT,GRE,G-MAT all are based on this unique number of 1/4.
Success is simply the the no. of question in the test*P(question is answered correct).
Well this thought of using some mathematics passed my mind cause we all say...
"Life is all about making choices".
Right from your answers,shoes,clothes,better halfs....(at times making them really harrowing....!!)
May be we learnt this and introduced this into the education system.......multiple choice,......!!

Aren't there any other methods to test??
How can human intelligence be measured???(At times these multiple choice tests turn out be a measure of luck!!!)IS man a pet of the providence???

Evanescent thought that crossed my mind when i was thinking on the methods of testing!!...

i always thought they were better than "choose the correct answer"...

'pet of providence'....really strikes!
I wonder if God is forced to undergo multiple choice tests too!.
Luck or the lack of it is the excuse he gives for every wrong choice of his.

Amazing thought......
